Eminem has unveiled the music video for his latest single “Tobey,” featuring Big Sean and Babytron, directed by Cole Bennett. Set against the backdrop of their hometown of Detroit, the video features multiple visual representations of each rapper as they deliver their verses with intensity.

“Tobey” is the second single from Eminem’s highly anticipated twelfth studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), set for release on July 12. The song, which was released last Tuesday, addresses the recent controversy sparked by hip-hop pioneer Melle Mel, who suggested that Eminem’s inclusion in a top five rappers list was solely due to his race.

Eminem fiercely defends his legacy in the song, saying, “So when I get trashed by a pioneer who’s one of the reasons why I’m here / They tell me to just let the shit go and chill / Melle Mel shouldn’t get an answer, that man is a legend / Bitch, so do I.”

The release of the “Tobey” music video is part of Eminem’s promotional push for “The Death of Slim Shady,” which he first announced during the NFL Draft in Detroit in April. The album’s announcement was accompanied by an “Unsolved Mysteries”-style trailer and an obituary in the Detroit Free Press in which he symbolically bid farewell to his alter ego Slim Shady.

Earlier in late May, Eminem teased fans with the album’s debut single, “Houdini,” referencing Megan Thee Stallion, the Steve Miller Band and his own 2002 hit, “Without Me.” While few details are known about “The Death of Slim Shady,” it has been confirmed that Dr. Dre contributed production to the album.

Fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting the full release of Eminem’s upcoming album, which will mark a major moment in his illustrious career.
