A man in HCMC has been sentenced to prison for running a prostitution ring that introduced models and beauty pageant contestants to the wealthy.

Huynh Thanh Thuan, 34, was sentenced to four years in prison on Monday by a Ho Chi Minh City court for providing sexual services.

Two other people involved in the case, Pham Do Nhat Duy and Le Thi Thu Thao, both 38, were also jailed on the same charges.

During the trial, Thuan said that on October 22 last year, he went out to dinner with three men in the Sala urban area of Thu Duc City. The men knew that Thuan was familiar with several models, beauty pageant insiders and other influencers. During the meeting, they asked Thuan to recommend three people in these industries who could provide prostitution services on October 23 and 24.

Thuan accepted the request and sent photos of certain women to the men via Zalo. He then contacted two women directly for the prostitution deal and contacted another woman through his connection to Duy and Thao.

Thuan agreed to provide the prostitution service for VND30-50 million per day. The plan was that Thuan would receive the money from the men and give the women VND20-30 million for each day of service. He and his accomplices would keep the rest.

The “sex tour” took place at a resort in Ho Tram, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, bordering HCMC. Police officers caught the men and women red-handed on October 24. Since the tender was held in HCMC, the case was handled by HCMC police.

During the police investigation, Thuan admitted that he had arranged prostitution services between beauty pageant contestants and a client in Singapore for $3,000 a day. He also confessed to his involvement in several other similar cases.

According to authorities, Thuan had earned VND100 million from his procurement deals, while Thuan himself said he had earned only VND52 million.
