‘Clear the Shelters’ Returns to Chicago for 10th Year, Beginning in August – NBC Chicago

NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago have their annual Clear the shelters The Pet Adoption and Donation Campaign returns for its 10th consecutive year from August 10 to September 10. As part of the month-long event, NBCUniversal Local Chicago is partnering with local animal shelters and rescue organizations to promote pet adoption and raise money for participating shelters and rescue organizations.

Since its inception in 2015, NBC 5 Chicago & Telemundo Chicago’s local Clear the shelters campaigns have helped more than 45,000 pets find forever homes. More than one million pets have been adopted nationwide and millions of dollars have been raised for participating shelters and rescues in nine countries Clear the shelters campaigns.

“NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago are proud to once again partner with local animal shelters and rescue organizations for our celebratory 10th annual Clear the Shelters campaign,” said Kevin CrossPresident & General Manager, NBCUniversal Local Chicago. “Our annual pet adoption campaign continues to grow and we are honored to help find permanent homes and raise the funds needed to help vulnerable animals in need.”

The 2024 fundraiser will once again be led by Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit and longtime campaign partner. Donations can be made from August 1 through September 30 at ClearTheSheltersFund.org. Through the online platform, built by Fundraise Up, donors will have the option to cover transaction fees, ensuring that 100 percent of the funds go directly to the shelter or rescue of their choice.

Virtual pet adoptions also return for the sixth consecutive campaign through WeRescue. The WeRescue website and app allow users to search for adoptable pets in their area by breed, gender, size and other factors, submit their adoption applications and submit questions directly to shelters.
