The 178th Trumbull County Fair is just days away. Vendors are out early at the fairgrounds setting up rides, games and refreshments.

Dale Wesche of Lisko Family Midway Amusements said he’s seeing a lot of new rides and vendors this year.

“We’re here to set everything up. We’re going to have almost 20 vendors for everyone, there’s going to be food games, all kinds of vendors are going to be here. It’s going to be a fun time at the Trumbull County Fair,” Lisko said.

The commercial building has 39 different vendors, many of these vendors are small businesses and are brand new to the fair.

Rob Williams, owner of Awesome Aquatics, has been setting up aquariums at the Trumbull County Fair for three years and says it’s a great way to discover smaller businesses in the valley.

“It’s a great place, especially for new businesses that want to advertise and show that they exist, and you can find them here,” Williams said.

While there are many new vendors, some have been coming to the Trumbull County Fairgrounds for years.

“The Trumbull County Fair is our best fair out of all of our fairs. It’s a smaller fair, everything is included when you pay to get in,” said Melissa Campbell, owner of G&G Concessions.

Campbell has been a fairground vendor for over 30 years, selling sandwiches, hot dogs and lemonade.

The Trumbull County Fairgrounds received over $100,000 in state grants, which were used for improvements throughout the fairgrounds.

“We’ve made a lot of improvements to the fairgrounds this year that everyone will see. We have new restrooms on the fairgrounds and the commercial buildings, new roofs on a lot of our buildings, a new grandstand entrance that’s dedicated to Bud Rogers,” said Trumbull County Fair Board Member Kiersten Holmes.

According to Holmes, more animals and vendors are expected at the fair this year.

The Trumbull County Fair begins on Tuesday, July 9 and ends on Sunday, July 14.
