Embracing New Beginnings: A New Year Hijrah Story

As the new year of Hijrah dawns, Muslims around the world take a moment to reflect on the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Medina.

The event symbolizes a journey toward a better future and serves as an inspiration for personal transformation and renewal for many.

Layla, a 32-year-old teacher who used a pseudonym to remain modest, said she always had a busy life full of responsibilities and obligations.

However, she often felt overwhelmed and disconnected from the spiritual aspects of her life. Layla rang in the new year of Hijrah and decided it was time for a change.

She wanted to find balance, rediscover her faith and focus on her well-being.

Determined to start over, Layla set aside a week during the New Year of Hijrah to focus on self-care and spiritual growth. She took time off work and minimized her social obligations.

Layla came up with a simple plan: she would dedicate her mornings to prayer and reflection, her afternoons to reading and learning about Islamic teachings, and her evenings to spending quality time with her family. Layla began her days with Submissive prayer, followed by quiet moments of reflection. She read about the journey of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and found inspiration in his resilience and dedication.

In the afternoons, Layla immersed herself in books about Islamic history and values, which gave her a deeper understanding of her faith. She also took long walks in a nearby park, enjoying the beauty of nature and feeling a sense of peace and gratitude.

In the evenings, Layla spent time with her family, eating together and discussing what she had learned.

She also made an effort to reconnect with her local mosque community. By visiting the mosque for prayers and participating in community events, she was able to build new friendships and experience a sense of belonging.

During the week, Layla experienced moments of clarity and inner peace.

She realized that the changes she was making weren’t just about adjusting her schedule, they were about changing her mindset. Layla found herself more patient, compassionate, and grateful for the little joys in life. By the end of the week, she felt rejuvenated and ready to make these positive changes into her daily routine.

Layla’s story reminds us that the new year of Hijrah is an opportunity for personal growth and renewal.

It encourages us to pause, reflect and make positive changes in our lives.
